Select the image object with the mouse so that there are
handles (blue boxes) around the edges. The properties toolbar will change
to Image properties toolbar. Note: You can select objects
only when the Select tool
 is in
use.Adjust transparency
Click the  tool button. This
will enable / disable the transparency of the image. Click the
 tool button to select the
transparent color. Move the color picker over an area with the color you
want to select and left-click. The Transparent Color Match dialog will
appear. You can choose the color distance to match (0 to strict color
matching and 255 to black matches white).
Adjust Opacity
By dragging the opacity slider
 you can easily change the
opacity of the image.
